Resource Type

  1. Laser capture microdissection microscope

  1. Resource Description
Laser capture microdissection microscopy utilizes a UV laser pulsed microbeam to excise a cell or cells of interest from slide-mounted tissue. The isolated tissue is then recovered by laser pressure catapult into a microfuge tube cap. The UV wavelength of the laser is too long to damage polynucleotides and proteins. LCM is suitable for most routinely prepared cell and tissues samples, including single cells and microbial applications.
