Paleohistology Core Laboratory


Lab performs services related to paleontology, paleopathology, and paleohistology. This core houses significant expertise in processing and analysis of mineralized tissues.







  • Access/training service ( Access service )

    For appropriate collaborators, this core can provide training and access to unique instrumentation allowing the processing and imaging of unique and recalcitrant tissues.


  • NIS-Elements ( Software )

    NIS-Elements "supports numerous image processing capabilities including binary and morphological tools for measurement and analysis routines."

  • OmniMet ( Software )

    Image capture and analysis software.

  • PAX-it ( Software )

    "PAX-it Image Management and Image Analysis software is a powerful, comprehensive solution developed to address your special imaging needs."

  • Perception ( Software )

    "Melding an intuitive-user interface with a high-productivity design, the Perception software suite offers a robust toolkit for manual microanalysis. Integrating all phases of microanalysis into a tight package allows users to go from collecting an image and X-ray spectrum to processing the data and finally to reporting the data in Microsoft® Word or most other Microsoft® Windows® applications in a handful of steps. Flexible reporting is enhanced by user-defined templates—all this in a package that may be configured on a user-by-user basis."
